BRC/IOP Accreditation / 27th March 2018 / The Vacuum Pouch CompanyThe Vacuum Pouch Company’s commitment to the BRC/IOP accreditation is evident throughout all processes in their business and they adhere to these highest possible industry standards to deliver a food-safe and quality product.
In order to administer this vital system, The Vacuum Pouch Company has employed Jo Deakin as Management Systems Administrator.
With her background and 35 years’ experience in all aspects of food safety, technical, and quality in the food packaging industry, Jo knows the importance of training and implementation:
“We are proud to have been awarded the highest grade (AA) for the Certificate of Conformity under the BRC/IOP Global Standard for Food Packaging and other Packaging Materials Safety. However, the certificate is not just a piece of paper it plays many roles and requires that we as a manufacturer and distributor ensure that our systems work and that we can prove it.
We are passionate about food safety and see the implementation of this as a continual process of training, auditing and compliance to stay ahead and be at the forefront of industry knowledge. Responsibility for food safety lies all along the supply chain – from farm to fork, raw material to traded goods and manufacturing/delivery.
We are a small team, but this works to our advantage as we can focus upon food safety, quality, and precision to ensure the BRC/IOP standard is interwoven into everything we do naturally and consistently. After all, without this accreditation, no bona fide customer in the food industry would even look at us.”
Jo’s qualifications, Chartered Institute of Environmental Health – Advanced certificate in Food Hygiene, Royal Society Public Health- Level 3 award in HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points.) The Society of Food Hygiene and Technology – Authorised Food Safety Trainer (for front line food handlers level 2 ) and ISO 9001 Quality Management System Auditor including Document Control.
Jo’s ambition for 2018/19 is “Getting back in the Classroom” to further develop her packaging knowledge and focusing on packaging material development using recycled materials.
